Beer is one of the most popular beverages in the world. There hasn’t been a division of beer in „light“ and „dark“ in bars and restaurants, for quite some time now. The selection of beers and the flavours that we find in them are getting more and more sophisticated. This training brings you advanced knowledge about beer.
The lecturer Zvonimir Pelko will introduce you to the world of beer in two days of theory and tasting. With the completion of the program “Biersommelier” on Doemens Akademie (Graefelfing, Munich, Germany) and a matchless enthusiasm, he is the only “Doemens Biersommelier” in the Croatia and South Eastern Europe. In addition to being one of the 2,000 “Doemens Biersommelier” in the world, he continuously upgrades his knowledge by traveling from brewery to brewery. He is also the CEO of MAS Plenum company which specializes in the import of foreign specialty beers on the Croatian market. This means that we are leaving you in the hands of a professional.
Duration of the training:
Two days, 5 hours per day. The terms in which the seminar is to be held will be determined in consultation with the participants.

The content of the seminar:
The first day will start with an introduction into the world of beer and its interesting history. You will be introduced to a “Craft beer” movement in the world and in Croatia, and after that, the evaluation of beer by BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) standards awaits. You will get to know the types of glasses and their proper maintenance.
After the theoretical part, you will be taught about the tasting beer styles where you will be explained the correct way of tasting, serving and the principle of evaluating beer.
The first day you will taste the famous beer styles from traditional beer countries like Germany and the Czech Republic, including Munich Helles Lager, Bohemian Pilsner Lager, Hefeweizen, Bock, Doppelbock, Rauchbier, and other beer styles characteristic for these countries.
On the second day we will talk about raw materials and the brewing process, from harvesting grain to the placement of beer on the market. After the production process you will simultaneously meet with the basic divisions and categorisations of beer, and after the theoretical part you will be tasting Ale beer Belgian and Anglo-Saxon type, such as Witbier, Saison / Farmhouse ale; Dubbel, Tripel, Belgian Strong Dark Ale, American Pale Ale, Brown / Amber Ale, India Pale Ale, Porter, Bitter, Stout and others.
